Historically, black families have lost their valuable property in coastal areas like Hilton Head Island due to schemes and tactics by local government to raise taxes so that the family could no longer afford the property. Greedy developers and attorneys prey on family members who have a lack of knowledge in basic economics or understanding of land ownership. Allen Family falls into the latter. Developers and local attorneys are constantly dangling carrots to those looking for a quick payout without taking into consideration that we have elderly family members residing on the property. Greed initiated by the attorneys and developers has caused division and stress among our family. They hang around the property like vultures - we call them land predators.
